Vampire Hunter D Sword by Natfoe Vampire Hunter D Sword by Natfoe
This is a close enough to lifesize replica as I imagined of the sword D carries in Vampire Hunter D.
Using the same materials I used to make this [link] the blade is made from a 1x1/8x60 inch aluminum bar bent and shaped. The hilt is made from wood but all the gold parts are made of brass. Overall the length of the sword is 62 1/4 inches long.

I think the icon skull on the sword is Amano's tribute to Phillipe Druillet, an artist popular in Heavy Metal/Metal Hurlant from the 70s onwards.

I thought of using aluminium for my Mastersword too. It's such a great material. I just don't have enough money yet to effort such a huge piece. :giggle:

I don't think it's really a full draw from the sheath. There are indicators there is a groove in the sheath where the sword can easily slide out. It's just a theory but still an awesome sword!

I wanted to try this one for a while but could never find a good picture of the whole thing. You obviously did.

Same thing as when I made the Tenchi sword little over a year ago, I used a lot of screen grabs of various positions of the prop.
